Scope and Contents

The collection contains materials from Lawrence Davis's time at Haverford and the ten years after his graduation. Included are souvenir Bryn Mawr/Haverford Drama Club programs, a 1966 commencement invitation and program, a photo of the Haverford College Class of 1966 from the 1976 reunion along with a letter sent to those photographed, and two letters condemning the Vietnam War. One of the letters is by the Student Christian Movement, of which Davis was a coordinator, and describes students' eight day fast in solidarity with the people of Vietnam. The second letter is by the Churchmen's Committee and writes about the hopes of 1971 being the final year of the Vietnam War draft.

Biographical / Historical

Lawrence Davis graduated from Haverford in 1966. In 1970, he obtained a PhD. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During his college years, he was a member of the Student Christian Movement. After college, he was a member of the Churchmen's Committee, which actively sought to oppose the military draft. His academic research focuses on plant based biology and biochemistry. As of 2020, Davis is Professor Emeritus at Kansas State University, where he teaches biochemistry and molecular biophysics.
