Scope and Contents

This collection consists of press releases created by the Haverford College Public Information Office, and later the Public Relations Department, between 1966 and 1984. The releases include information pertaining to the activities of faculty, students, staff members, the Board of Managers, and the Corporation. Some releases also discuss visitors to campus, including writers, scientists, artists, and musicians.

Historical Note

The earliest releases in this collection were issued by the Haverford College Public Information Office. Barclay M. Bollas was the director of this office from 1962 until 1967. By late 1967, the office had become the Public Relations Department and William F. Balthaser was appointed Director of Public Relations. Balthaser remained at Haverford until 1978; when he resigned, he was the Director of Development and Public Relations. Following Balthaser's departure, John Wesley "Jack" Gilbert, Jr., became Director of Development and Paula Singer became Director of College Relations.
