Haverford College History Department Junior Seminar Papers and Other Course Papers Based on Haverford Collections

In 1969, the history faculty of Haverford College created a seminar for its student history majors requiring significant papers concerned with historical evidence and based on documents in Haverford's manuscript collections. The papers are described here under the course number: History 361. The seminar came to an end in 2004.

In 1991, photographs from Haverford's collections were used as artifacts. The papers resulting from their documentation have been added as an exception to the above. (Note: no papers from 1991 can be found) A decision was made in 1990 that only those papers considered by the department as worthy of future reference would be preserved here.

Over the years some papers have been misplaced or perhaps were never even received. At one time they probably did exist though, as former inventories have listed them. Currently only those papers that are available are listed here. Those papers that are missing have been included in their respective "missing documents/ photo documents" lists. These lists are included here.

Papers resulting from other coursework within the history department which faculty also deemed worthy for research purposes are also here, but housed separately from the 361 papers. Thus, here are papers from History 240, History of Quakerism (1991, 1999); papers from History 347a, Quakers in Asia (1989); and one paper from History 347b, Gentry, Peasant and Family in later Imperial China (1989). (Note: There is also 1 paper for 340a, spring 1990, filed in Box 1989-1). In 2012, papers from Independent College Program, Picturing War: Goya to Abu Ghraib were added to this collection.
